I NEED A SHOWER
I definitely need a shower.
It’s been what, six days? Let me tell ya something: sponge baths don’t cut it after six days. I love showers, I will shout from the rooftops how much I love them, and being without one, or access to one, is fraying what nerves I have.
Not really but it sure would be nice to take one.
I’m working on a solution so don’t you worry your sweet heads about it. However, in the meantime, I am smelling earthy.
On another note, it’s hard to believe it’s only been a week since I arrived back in Olympia, limping on a sick transmission. It seems like I’ve been sitting here, idly, for months. Such is the power of the road for me. Someone commented the other day that she was sad to hear that my travels have been curtailed. To a degree that’s true but, as soon as I buy the van I have in mind, I will be back on the road during weekdays, and that shouldn’t be more than a couple weeks from today.
It’s all good. I’m just waiting for Bev to return to Olympia, this coming Sunday, and then next week I can go take care of some financing and go buy a traveling van . . . rhymes with traveling man . . . I feel a song coming on.
Sing with me!
YOUTUBE IS FAILING MISERABLY
Not really, but it sounds dramatic when I write that, as if writing had a sound.
We still have over five-hundred followers on YouTube, but we are only seeing 50-60 views per video. I suspect most of the followers who have been with us since February actually signed up because Bev was hiking the PCT. Now that her hike is over, and it’s just me roaming around, the interest just isn’t there. Perhaps I’m just not captivating enough. Perhaps I’m terrible at filming videos. Perhaps no one wants to follow a seventy-five-year-old and his dog while they visit places. Perhaps, perhaps, and more perhaps.
The thing is, it’s okay. As Popeye would say, I am what I am . . . or was that Neil Diamond? An old saying comes to mind: You can put a dress on a pig, but at the end of the day, you still have a pig. And that may be the perfect summation of my YouTube endeavors.
I will keep filming them because I enjoy doing it. If anyone else enjoys them, great. If not, Maggie and I will be a great audience of two.
Having said all that, you’ll enjoy this next piece of news: I am toying with the idea of starting another YouTube channel, this one a retrospective look at individual songs of the 60’s, what I was doing when they were recorded, what was happening at that time, that sort of thing. Again, the chances of anyone finding that interesting outside of Puddle Walker are slim, but it’s fun to entertain myself.
Stay tuned on that one. First, buy a van; after that I can work everything else out.
Nothing planned right now, Lori. We have to save up some money. The PCT adventure drained our resources something serious. I think we will wait until spring for warmer weather and fatter bank accounts.
I would pay to hear you sing thatg song. Many blessings to you as well, my friend.
Many blessings to you both. Hey. Bill I suddenly have this urge to sing You and me and a dog named Boo even though your dog’s name isn’t Boo. I hope you have a wonderful new week.
Bev has been in Eastern Washington for the last three weeks taking care of her grandson while her daughter-in-law recovers from an operation. She just returned yesterday and it’s nice to have her back. New travels? oh gosh, I want to goup to Sequim, and I want to go back to Eastern Washington, but I have to decide what to do about transportation, and whether I want to puta new transmission in the bus. I think I will be in Olympia for a couple months.
Now that Bev is done, what is she up to? Where will your next journey take you?
