We, being my wife and I, recently launched our Patreon page, and I thought I would take a moment to explain to you all what Patreon is all about.
What is Patreon?
Patreon is an online service that allows anyone to financially support their favorite content creators. This allows creators to connect with their fans and earn income from their work.
How it works?
Simply put, Patreon takes monthly small donations from supporters and gives that money to creators. This allows categories of people that can traditionally have difficulty monetizing their work, such as artists, writers, or video creators, to earn cash for their efforts.
Because of this platform, creators like my wife and I no longer have to hope for Adsense income, or YouTube income, which is minimal at best. It allows us to create in our own way, following our own creative paths, and alleviates the cost of good creative work.
But how does it work, specifically? There are different tiers of support. Our first tier is $3 per month. The second tier is $5 per month, and it goes up from there, ten, twenty-five, and fifty. Each tier of support offers our supporters rewards, presented by us. These rewards range from original material, not seen anywhere else, to the creation of personalized videos for our supporters, or video chats, or autographed novels, or mention on our videos or advertising for your business.
You, our supporters, sign up for an automatic monthly payment, Patreon collects that money and pays us, and we continue to do what we love doing, making outstanding content for you to enjoy.
Why you might consider being our patron?
There are many reasons why you would support us in this way. One, you believe in what we are doing, and you want to become a part of our very exclusive community, a close-knit group of people who believe that the arts, and creative endeavors, should be supported, just as the rich support the arts with grants, or just as you might support a streaming service like Netflix.
Second, you realize that content creation costs money, and the better content creation requires better equipment and more time and effort, and you want to support the effort we are making to provide positive, uplifting content.
Third, you are getting something for your support. This is not a handout. This is not some charity gig. You support us, and we show our appreciation by giving you rewards not found anywhere else.
Either way, thank you for believing in, and following, us!
Listen, we are going to continue to create content, for you to enjoy, whether you support us financially or not. We deeply appreciate the support you have given us in the past. For over ten years I have found incredible support from many of you, support which has kept me erect and sane and loved, and I will forever be appreciative of that, and despite the cost to produce this content, I will continue to do it because this is what I love to do. I am passionate about creating content about the wonders of life, and I plan on doing it far into the future.
