I mean, who wouldn’t, right? Miracles are pretty rare, are they not? I would venture to guess, if you were to poll the average citizen out on the streets of your city, ask them if they’ve ever witnessed a miracle, ninety-nine times out of one hundred the answer would be no. And that one who says yes, well, let’s be kind and say they are speaking metaphorically.
Most of you reading this, if you are being totally honest with me, would admit that you really don’t expect to see a miracle in your lifetime. It’s just not something we think will happen, right? Turning water into wine, or burning bushes which speak, or walking on water, those things are best saved for the readings of ancient tomes and not for the everyday lives we live.
And yet I’m about to help you to see a miracle, right here, right now.
Are you ready?
Go look in a mirror!
There are over eight billion inhabitants of this planet right now. In the history of mankind, there have been, approximately, one-hundred-and-ten-billion humans who have lived on Earth.
But you are the only “you” to have ever existed. There is no one like you. There has never been someone like you. Oh, sure, people talk about doppelgangers, people who look remarkably like someone else, but that is simply surface resemblance and has nothing to do with the entire package of being human. Even twins have differences.
Think about rare things in this world. Gold? Very rare and very expensive because of its rarity. A painting by Rembrandt? Limited in number, very rare indeed, and very expensive because of its rarity.
Tanzanite? White truffles? A pure blue diamond? A billionaire with a conscience? All rare, for sure, but still, there are multiple of each of those.
There is only one of you.
Now, consider this point, one which cannot be disputed. Each of those rare things I mentioned above have great value because of their rarity.
Can you predict what I’m going to say next? Do you see what direction I’m headed in?
If those aforementioned rarities are worth so much, because of their rarity, then what do you suppose your value is, you being one of a kind?
You are, in fact, the rarest “thing” on Earth, one of a kind, never to be seen again, never seen in the past, and yet it is absolutely mind-blowing how many people there are who feel ordinary, who feel they have no worth, who struggle to see one damned good thing about themselves.
I say wake up and smell the Tanzanite!
It truly saddens me that there are those, and I’m talking about millions of people, who feel they are not capable of achieving goals, not capable of achieving great things, not capable of rising above the quagmire and making a difference in this world. They are resigned to mediocrity. They have accepted the status quo of their lives. They are convinced that the universe has transpired against them and there is no way in hell they can accomplish anything of value.
And I say that kind of thinking is not worthy of a miracle!
Go look in a mirror and give this rallying cry some thought as we say hello to 2025, a year filled with your possibilities.

Sue, as you well know, Thoreau wrote about men living lives of quiet desperation. I simply can’t imagine going through this one trip of life without making it a special trip. I refuse to go quietly into the night, and I know you feel the same.
Blessings to you always

Sis, I’m beginning to look at each new day of good health as a miracle. I truly never believed I would be alive and kickin’ at this age, so I’m just trying to stay a few steps ahead of the undertaker, thumbing my nose at him as I jog along. 🙂 Love you, Sis!
Like so many, of course I’ve dreamed of experiencing a “Miracle.” I’m happy to say that IMHO, I’ve had a few “mini-miracles”……Or perhaps managed to convince myself that’s what happened. In any case…..I truly enjoyed reading this one bro…..then again, I love ALL your writings!! May you and yours have many “mini-miracles” in this New Year!
Love, Big Sis
Happy New Year Bill…
And yes you are so right my friend… We are all of us unique and individual
All of us capable of so, so, Soooooo much more than we give ourselves credit for..
I wrote a post in Dreamwalkers just after Christmas entitled Creating with Love our Future.. In it I said my Dad taught me there is no such word as ‘Can’t’ because we can try…
And many of us never even try… Yet we can all of us create something remarkable… because we are all remarkable BE-ings…
I hope when we look in the mirror we can set our intentions this year to help create a more kinder, giving generous world as we learn to respect ourselves and other and Mother Nature more..
We then when we begin to honour , love and respect ourselves more… We then will see more miraculous things occurring as hearts open, and we learn we are all one, but we are still unique
Thank YOU dear Bill…
Much love to You and your family for a great year.. And happy to read you are bee keeping and digging the land again…
Much love Sue xx <3
